Michelle Pereira's Latest EP Will Blow Your Mind!
If you want to listen to great acoustic music, Michelle Pereira is the first name you should search for. This Nashville-based artist has all the right tools to put your soul at peace through her music. Actually, she can also put you through all kinds of emotions with her amazing vocals.
Pereira’s latest EP titled, ‘Piece Of My Mind’ will give you chills from the get-go. There are two songs in particular in the EP that may strike your attention even more. The first being ‘Piece Of My Mind’. The song has this vibe that will want you to just sing along with emotions. Michelle has done an incredible job in this one by giving it all on her vocals to sound as much emotionally involved as possible.
She explains that ‘‘This song plays on the phrases "Peace of Mind" and "Piece of My Mind" and how the singer (me!) wants to give a piece of her mind for some peace of mind to a certain special someone. It was written with my friend Raquel Cole (who is a wicked artist herself). Although we liked where the ballad was going, we just thought the title "Piece of My Mind" should be something a little more sassy and a bit more uptempo.’’
The second song from Pereira that has caught our attention is titled, ‘Don’t Know How’. It’s so attractive because it shows how complicated love can really be between two people in a relationship. " ‘Don't Know How’ is a vulnerable song that talks about love and not knowing how to be in love. It's about not knowing how to give 100% of yourself in a relationship because of the risks that are involved but in the end ultimately wanting to know how to be in love.’’ says the artist from Missisauga just outside of Toronto, Canada.
Pereira received her Bachelor's degree in music, majoring in vocal jazz in April of 2015. A few months later, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee to attend Blackbird Studios (Martina McBride, John McBride) 6-month audio engineering program to learn the ways of what it feels like to be behind the glass. Shortly after, Pereira became sponsored by the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) for a performance work visa.
Fast forward a year later, Michelle was selected as one of the finalists to compete in Ole's Majorly Indie 'On The Spot' contest for a chance at receiving a $40,000 artist development deal with them. She has played various iconic venues around Nashville including The Bluebird Cafe, The Listening Room, 3rd and Lindsley and The City Winery. Michelle has even shared bills and stages with Gwen Sebastian (country star, Miranda Lambert's backup singer and season 2 "The Voice" contestant), and Gary Nicholson (singer/songwriter for Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, and Ringo Starr). Michelle is currently in the studio working on some new music and is excited to be releasing an acoustic project very soon.
Songwriter by day, artist by night, Michelle's dream is to wake up every day and create and inspire people with her music just as her favorite songwriters and artists have done so for her.
