Watch out for... Cold Engines
Get some Indie Rock, and infuse it with some Funk and Soul, and what do you get? You get an inspirational New England band in the name of Cold Engines. Originality and charisma is at its best for an emerging rock band bursting in the scene.
Their latest song ’Shady Lover’ will get you going inside yourself to the point where you’ll have to dance or in the least, nod your head to it. From the start of the song, it’s already history. The funky guitar riffs, the mellifluous vocals and the very catchy chorus are combined to make the song as groovy and appealing as it can be. Driven by an undying love for the Dirty Dancing soundtrack and contemporaries including The Killers and Mac Demarco comes the latest R&B infused single from Boston’s Cold Engines. "SHADY LOVER” combines the sharp melodic hooks of The Police with the swagger of The Night Game by way of the great falsetto soul singers of yesterday.
The theme of Shady Lover isn’t about a person exactly, more of a mystery of lust and the toll it can take. A young dude, finding confidence and a beautiful stranger shed expectations.
Cold Engines, has already acheived respectable feats such as being named the Best Rock Band 2016 and being nominated for Song Of The Year 2017 in the New England Music Awards, an amalgamation of some of the finest players on Boston’s north shore. Brought together by David Drouin and Aaron Zaroulis of The Brew, this all star cast of artists brings together a mix of soul, new wave, rock, and dance all across the country. After exploding on the Northeast scene and releasing 4 records inside of 3 years (Physical Education, Better off Dead, Take Me With You, Day Drinker), the band has been seen sharing stages with their heroes and honing their instantly identifiable sound. Averaging 150+ shows a year since launching in 2015, Cold Engines is preparing to release their most ambitious record to date. "Kiss My Heart" (May 2019), sets the bar ever higher.
